Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra ruled out of all five ODIs as New Zealand name revised squad for India series

Mark Chapman and Rachin Ravindra have been ruled out of all five One-Day Internationals against India, which begin on November 4 in Auckland, the New Zealand camp confirmed. The five-match series opens in Auckland before moving to three other venues across the country.
Chapman is sidelined by a hamstring problem and is expected to need approximately two more weeks before he can resume playing, removing an experienced middle-order batting option from New Zealand’s plans. Ravindra remains short of the shoulder fitness required for white-ball cricket, and team management said they are unwilling to risk his recovery ahead of India’s scheduled Test matches later this month.
Those withdrawals prompted changes to New Zealand’s squad: wicketkeeper-batter Tim Seifert, who had initially been selected only for the final two fixtures, will now be available for the entire series. Henry Nicholls has been added for the first three ODIs, while Dean Foxcroft is set to join for the fourth and fifth matches.
Nicholls strengthened his case for selection with a century for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy, and Foxcroft brings previous international experience, having played against the West Indies. Head coach Rob Walter acknowledged the absences would alter the team’s plans but expressed confidence in the incoming players to fill the gaps.
Walter also reported that Chapman’s recovery was progressing and that Ravindra’s fitness for the upcoming Test assignment remained an important consideration for selectors. New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry will join the squad and undergo an assessment to determine his availability for the opening match.
New Zealand’s squad for the first three ODIs is Mitchell Santner (C), Michael Bracewell, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Matt Henry, Kyle Jamieson, Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Henry Nicholls, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Nathan Smith, Will Young and Blair Tickner. The squad for the fourth and fifth ODIs is Mitchell Santner (C), Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, Kristian Clarke, Jacob Duffy, Matt Fisher, Dean Foxcroft, Lockie Ferguson, Mitch Hay, Nick Kelly, Tim Seifert, Blair Tickner and Will Young.
The series schedule is confirmed: the opener in Auckland on November 4, followed by matches in Wellington on November 7 and Hamilton on November 10, with the fourth and fifth ODIs at Mount Maunganui on November 13 and November 15.
