Mark Selby beats Noppon Saengkham 10-6 to claim fourth China Open

On 16 August 2026 in Taiyuan, Mark Selby beat Noppon Saengkham 10-6 to win the China Open.

Selby became the first player to win the China Open on four occasions, having previously lifted the title in 2015, 2017 and 2018. The 43-year-old is a four-time world champion. This was his first ranking final in China for eight years, and the victory takes his career tally to 26 ranking event wins and lifts him from ninth to fifth in the world rankings.

Selby fell behind 4-2 early in the final despite compiling a 138 break in the third frame. He won the final two frames of the opening session to level the match at 4-4.

When play resumed Selby produced breaks of 58, 90, 69 and 53 to run off four frames and build a healthy lead. Thailand’s Noppon Saengkham, who had already beaten Judd Trump, Ronnie O'Sullivan and Shaun Murphy en route to only his second ranking final, replied with a 71.

Selby, who came into the season with a new cue for the first time in 20 years, laid two excellent snookers to recover and take the 14th frame. Saengkham rallied to win the next, but Selby sealed victory with another half-century and collected the top prize of £250,000, with Saengkham receiving £100,000.

"I'm happy to be standing here as champion, I played some good stuff all week, somewhere near close to my best," said Selby.

"Mark was strong and controlled the game well, his safety game was so good," said Saengkham. "When I was 4-2 up he was under pressure, but in the evening the game changed and it looked like Mark was controlling everything. I will keep trying hard and hopefully one day I will be the champion." Saengkham’s run at the China Open helps him climb 18 places in the world rankings to 27th.
