Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine was the best-selling video game in the United States in September 2026, industry analyst Mat Piscatella of Circana reported. The game's launch delivered strong commercial results despite mixed reception from fans, critics and gamers, and the performance was framed in the report as another major first-party success for Sony.

Circana's monthly rankings show Marvel's Wolverine finished ahead of EA FC 27 and NBA 2K27 in U.S. sales for September. The report noted EA FC 27 and NBA 2K27 are very popular among the American audience and always do well in terms of sales numbers. Circana also described Marvel's Wolverine as having received a strong launch.

The analyst's data indicated PlayStation 5 hardware sales rose 43% year-over-year during September. Circana further reported that Marvel's Wolverine generated the highest monthly sales in dollars for a first-party PlayStation title since Helldivers 2, which was launched in 2024. The dollar-value comparison was highlighted alongside the software rankings in the monthly summary.

In European monthly sales, Marvel's Wolverine finished in 2nd position, just behind EA FC 27. That regional placement contrasted with its top ranking in the U.S. market according to the same Circana data. The report treated the differing regional results as part of its broader sales overview.

The latest reported sales figure suggests the game has sold more than 2.1 million copies. That figure comes from industry tracking and has not been confirmed by the developer or publisher.

As of now, there are no official unit sales announced by Insomniac Games or Sony PlayStation. The 2.1 million-plus estimate and Circana's monthly rankings remain the most recent public indicators of the game's commercial performance.
