Matias Galarza, a 24-year-old Paraguayan midfielder who plays for River Plate in Argentina, has been linked with a move to Juventus during the 2026 summer transfer window, according to a report from Tuttosport. The approach comes as Juventus continue recruitment following the off-season activity outlined by the club.

Juventus have added multiple attacking recruits in the same window, completing moves including Lois Openda’s loan made permanent from RB Leipzig for €42.8m, Jeremie Boga from Nice for €5m, Jeff Ekhator from Genoa for €16m, Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain for €41.2m and Kerim Alajbegovic from Bayer Leverkusen for €32m. The club also signed wing-back Zeki Celik on a free transfer from Roma and goalkeeper Giovanni Daffara from Avellino for €1m. The Bianconeri, coming off a season in which they finished sixth in Serie A and were eliminated from the Coppa Italia in the quarter-finals, have been identified as thin in midfield, with Khephren Thuram and Manuel Locatelli described as the only strong options under Luciano Spalletti while Douglas Luiz and Arthur Melo have not met expectations.

Galarza was born in Asuncion and progressed through the youth ranks at Olimpia before spending a season on loan with Vasco da Gama’s under-20 side. He later moved to Brazil as part of that Vasco set-up where he transitioned from youth to senior football.

He made his senior debut for Vasco in 2021 in a Campeonato Carioca match against Portuguesa, then signed permanently with the club but lost his starting place toward the end of that season. Galarza subsequently spent two seasons on loan, first at Coritiba and then at Argentine club Talleres, signing with Talleres in 2025 and making 13 appearances for them.

After his stint at Talleres he joined River Plate, where he made 10 appearances before being loaned to Major League Soccer side Atlanta United in March 2026. He featured 10 times for Atlanta United and has since returned to his parent club.

On the international stage, Galarza earned his senior Paraguay debut in 2022 in a match against Mexico and has since accumulated 19 caps with four goals. He represented Paraguay at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and scored after 64 seconds in the match against Turkiye.

Tuttosport report that Juventus have his name on their radar while River Plate are seeking a fee of €6m for the midfielder as clubs weigh up a possible transfer.
