On October 25, 2026 New Zealand announced changes to their T20I squad for the remaining matches of the five-game series against India; Matt Henry will miss the rest of the T20Is, Blair Tickner has been added, and Lockie Ferguson will not play the third T20I at Sky Stadium in Wellington on October 27.

India lead the series 2-0 after winning the first two matches in Christchurch, both of which went to the final over and were won by the visitors with four wickets in hand; New Zealand will look to respond in the third game while India can move to the brink of a series victory.

Fast bowler Matt Henry has been ruled out of the remaining three T20Is and will remain in Christchurch before joining New Zealand’s ODI squad in Auckland on November 2; he bowled only two overs in the second T20I before leaving the field and will prepare for the ODI series that begins on November 4.

Lockie Ferguson will miss the third T20I against India in Wellington and is scheduled to travel to Auckland on October 25 to rejoin the squad for the fourth and fifth matches; New Zealand Cricket described his absence from the third game as part of planned workload management.

Kyle Jamieson, unused in the opening two matches, will be available for the third T20I in Wellington but will be absent for the fourth and fifth games to play for Canterbury in the Ford Trophy on October 31 and will rejoin New Zealand’s ODI squad after that domestic commitment.

Blair Tickner has been added to the squad for the remaining three T20Is, Josh Clarkson will join for the fourth and fifth matches, and Matt Fisher will travel to Wellington as cover for the third T20I before returning to the New Zealand A team.

The series resumes with the third T20I in Wellington on October 27, 2026; the fourth match is scheduled for October 30 at Eden Park in Auckland and the fifth for November 1 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
