Mbappé double sinks Barcelona at the Camp Nou with late winner

Kylian Mbappé scored twice as Real Madrid defeated Barcelona 2-1 at the Camp Nou on 25 October 2026, netting a late winner after Raphinha had levelled for the hosts.
Thirteen years after his previous entry into the Camp Nou, José Mourinho led Real Madrid to a late victory that ended Barcelona’s nine-game winning run and interrupted their bid to go nine points clear in the title race. The decisive sequence began with Jude Bellingham supplying Eduardo Camavinga, who broke into the area, evaded Pau Cubarsí and pulled the ball back for Mbappé to finish with three minutes remaining.
The game opened with Barcelona dominating possession but Madrid threatening immediately from turnovers; Pedri’s loose pass allowed Arda Guler to run at the right flank and force an early over-the-bar effort. Madrid’s counter intent continued, with Fede Valverde stretching the pitch with long diagonals that freed Mbappé to attack down the left and Guler forced a save from Joan García. Guler was later caught offside near the halfway line as Barcelona pushed high.
The first half gained momentum and physicality: Xavi Espart was forced off inside 30 minutes, Alejandro Balde — who had played just 15 minutes all season — replaced him and soon faced Guler’s direct threat. Madrid took the lead on 41 minutes when Lamine Yamal’s clearance was diverted by Gerard Martín into Mbappé and into the net after Yan Diomandé’s low cross; Yamal missed a chance to level shortly afterwards, scuffing wide at the near post.
Barcelona pushed harder after the break and saw two strong defensive interventions from Aurélien Tchouaméni and Bellingham deny shooting opportunities for Raphinha and Pedri. Dean Huijsen and Ibrahima Konaté produced stops to prevent chances for Raphinha and Lamine Yamal respectively, and Lunin made an important save from Martín’s header as the visitors held firm around their area.
The equaliser arrived on the hour when Lamine Yamal took a short corner to Pedri, who returned a reversed pass that Raphinha struck low into the net; Joan García then denied Guler at the other end and Lunin made another save to keep Madrid level. Late in the contest Mbappé appealed for a handball as Balde cleared, and then the Madrid break led to the match-winner after Bellingham’s movement created the opportunity for Camavinga to feed Mbappé for his second.
The victory halted Barcelona’s string of wins and altered the immediate title-race narrative, ensuring Real Madrid left the Camp Nou with three points and a late, decisive contribution from Mbappé that concluded the fixture.
