McIlroy two behind after eagled 18 at Wentworth

Rory McIlroy left himself two strokes behind the leaders after the third round of the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth on Saturday when he eagled the 18th. He carded a 72 to lie on 11 under heading into the final day.

Spain's Manuel Elvira and Italy's Filippo Celli share the lead at 13 under after both birdied the 18th. Alejandro Del Rey, JJ Spaun and Johannes Veerman sit one shot back on 12 under. There are 20 players within four strokes of the lead as the tournament moves into its final day.

Selected others on the leaderboard included R McIlroy (NI) and A Scott (AUS) on 11 under; S Bairstow (Eng), M Wallace (Eng) and R MacIntyre (Sco) on 10 under; J Smith (Eng), M Fitzpatrick (Eng) and A Rai (Eng) on 9 under. R Fisher (Eng) and S Lowry (Ire) were on 7 under, A Fitzpatrick (Eng) on 6 under, and D Law (Sco), J Rose (Eng), E Ferguson (Sco) and T Hatton (Eng) on 5 under.

"There are a lot of people around the leaders," he said after another round in blustery conditions. "I think the conditions over the last couple of days are the reason why no-one has got away from the pack, just because it has played so tricky and difficult. "I'll probably try not to look at the leaderboards on the front nine, and if I need to play a little bit more aggressively on the back, I'll do it."

McIlroy is second in the Race to Dubai rankings. He is attempting to win a record-equalling eighth Race to Dubai title and can boost his hopes by securing the second Wentworth title of his career.

The field heads into Sunday's final round with an exciting finish in store.
