Medhavi Bidhuri asks Virat Kohli to follow her after viral '6-7' WDPL celebration

Medhavi Bidhuri, a leg-spinner for Central Delhi Queens, asked Virat Kohli to follow her on social media after her '6-7' wicket celebration during the Women's Delhi Premier League opener on August 20, 2026. Bidhuri produced the celebration after dismissing South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh and finished the match with figures of 2/24, although her team lost.

The 20-year-old's No. 67 jersey made the '6-7' celebration particularly fitting and the moment quickly drew attention on social media. The celebration became a talking point of the Women's Delhi Premier League 2026 and contributed to a rise in her follower count online.

"I have got so many followers now, but I want a follow-back from him (Kohli)," Medhavi said while speaking to journalists Ankita Mishra and Kunal Wahi on the sidelines of the WDPL.

Bidhuri identified two cricketers she admires most. "Virat Kohli, obviously, because he is from Delhi. And Mithali Raj is very patient. I have personally attended a lot of camps with her," she said.

She also said she has not yet met Kohli in person. "I have never actually met Virat. I was working out at the DDCA when he was there too, but we couldn’t meet," she added.

Bidhuri was among the players registered for the WPL 2024 auction and has expressed a desire to play in the franchise tournament, naming Royal Challengers Bengaluru as her preferred team. "I would be happy if any team picks me, but my personal favourite is RCB because I know a lot of people there. Maybe it’s because of Virat as well, in fact," she said.

Bidhuri has attracted attention before: she featured for South Delhi Superstarz in the 2025 DPL final and produced a match-winning spell of 3/26 as they edged Central Delhi Queens by one run to lift the title, and she has represented Delhi at Under-19 level.

Bidhuri remains focused on breaking into the Women’s Premier League, with the expressed aim of earning an opportunity in the franchise tournament.
