Medhavi Bidhuri, a 20-year-old right-arm leg-spinner from Delhi, drew widespread attention after performing a ‘6-7’ celebration following her second wicket in the opening match of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2026 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on August 20. The clip circulated on social media even as Central Delhi Queens lost the game to South Delhi Superstarz.

The third edition of the Women’s DPL began on August 20 with defending champions South Delhi Superstarz facing Central Delhi Queens. Batting first, South Delhi Superstarz posted 156/5 in 20 overs, with Nishika Singh and Tanisha Singh both scoring half-centuries. Central Delhi Queens were restricted to 127/7 as South Delhi Superstarz won by 29 runs.

Bidhuri dismissed South Delhi Superstarz batter Nishika Singh in the 16th over, with Arushi Goel completing a diving catch at mid-wicket to give Bidhuri her second wicket of the match. Bidhuri finished the match with figures of 2/24 from her four overs. Her dismissal of Nishika prompted the on-field celebration that attracted attention online.

The celebration, described as the ‘6-7’ hand gesture, involved moving both hands up and down in a seesaw-like motion and rapidly spread across social media. Speaking about the celebration, Bidhuri said, “This is ‘67’. This is trending right now, and my little sister is Gen Z, so she told me to wear jersey number 67 and do this celebration.” The gesture became the focal point of post-match discussion despite the team result.

Bidhuri has been part of Delhi’s domestic cricket setup for several years and has already played in the Delhi Premier League. She was part of the South Delhi Superstarz squad during the 2025 Delhi Premier League and is now representing Central Delhi Queens in the Women’s DPL 2026. Her listed T20 record shows Matches: 11; Wickets: 11; Best Bowling: 3/20; Economy rate: 6.68; Best bowling: 2/13; Runs: 20; Highest score: 12.

Bidhuri originally wanted to wear jersey number 12 but that number was already occupied, and her younger sister suggested No. 67 because the ‘6-7’ trend was popular among Gen Z. She is wearing jersey No. 67 in the Women’s DPL 2026. The choice of number and celebration have become linked to her early tournament profile.

She is now representing Central Delhi Queens in the Women’s Delhi Premier League and will be looking to make a bigger impact during the tournament.
