Men's javelin final at Asian Games 2026: where to watch and who will compete
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, the World No. 1, heads a 14-thrower field in the men’s javelin throw final at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya on Monday, September 28, at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium.
Pathirage arrives with a season-best of 92.62m, the longest mark in the world this year, while Pakistan’s Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem enters with a season-best of 81.49m. Japan’s Yuta Sakiyama has a personal best of 87.16m and Sri Lanka’s Sumedha Ranasinghe has reached 85.78m, and the field also includes athletes from South Korea, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Indonesia and Kuwait.
India will be represented by Rohit Yadav and Yash Vir Singh after Neeraj Chopra was ruled out due to a ligament tear. Rohit set a personal best of 87.68m in Bhubaneswar in August, the second-best mark this season among the 14 entrants, while Yash Vir’s best of 85.41m won him bronze at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. India has won the last couple of Asian Games golds in the event.
The final is scheduled for Monday, September 28, with the opening throw at 4:45 PM IST; there is no qualifying round, so the competition proceeds as a single direct final. All competitors will therefore have their attempts contested on the same day at the Nagoya venue.
