Meronk, fresh from Dunhill win, shares lead after second round at DP World India Championship

Adrian Meronk, fresh from winning the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship earlier this month, held a share of the lead after the second round of the DP World India Championship in New Delhi on October 16, 2026.

The 33-year-old’s victory at the Alfred Dunhill Links ended a near three-year title drought and also secured his DP World Tour card for the next season. That success has carried over into India, where Meronk’s form has him positioned at the top of the leaderboard following two rounds.

Meronk described the emotional release that followed his Dunhill triumph, saying: “It was a lot of emotions after Dunhill because I didn’t know what my situation would be next year, especially with all the news surrounding the future of LIV Golf. I didn’t have many good results this year, so I was grinding and really working hard on my game. When I finally won, all the emotion just came out. It was such a relief.”

The Alfred Dunhill Links title not only ended Meronk’s prolonged wait for a win but also guaranteed his place on the DP World Tour for at least another season, allowing him to concentrate on his preparation and schedule without immediate status concerns.

Meronk reflected on his pathway into the sport and the obstacles he faced growing up in a country where golf had limited presence. “It was definitely hard in the beginning, because I never had anyone to look up to,” Meronk said, describing the challenge of finding role models early in his career.

His breakthrough on the European Tour came in July 2022, when he won the Horizon Irish Open and became the first Polish golfer to claim a title on that circuit. Meronk linked that achievement to his longer-term ambitions, adding: “It was always about breaking all records in the golfing world. Now I feel like a very experienced player, having played a lot of big tournaments against the best in the world. I know my potential, and I believe I can win on the biggest stage and keep breaking records,” he said.

With his tour status confirmed for the coming season, Meronk enters the remaining rounds of the DP World India Championship able to focus on performance at the event and on finalising plans for his 2027 schedule.
