Messi expected to feature as Inter Miami host New York City FC at Nu Stadium in MLS round 29

Inter Miami will host New York City FC at the Nu Stadium in round 29 of the 2026 Major League Soccer season, and Lionel Messi is expected to feature for the Herons in the fixture. New York City FC travel to Miami for what the preview describes as an intense outing.

Inter Miami returned to winning ways with a 4-0 victory against DC United in their most recent league match, a game Kily González’s men controlled from the start. The club will seek to extend that winning run at home, where the coaching staff view the venue as an advantage. Inter Miami have not been entirely consistent in recent matches but arrive on the back of the dominant result over DC United.

Messi, described in the report as a 39-year-old Argentine, scored a brace in the win over DC United and has registered 23 goals and 12 assists in 25 MLS appearances this season. Those numbers underline his current output for Inter Miami during the 2026 campaign.

The article states Messi has been training with the first team ahead of the New York City clash and “is going to be a part of the Inter Miami vs New York City MLS 2026 clash.” The source also included a social update reading: "One session closer. ⏳⚡️#MIAvNYC pic.twitter.com/853GM7o9BO."

Inter Miami’s attacking group includes Luis Suarez and German Berterame alongside Messi, a trio the report says will keep New York City’s defence on the edge. The preview warns the match will present a stern test for the visiting side.

For broadcast information and follow-up coverage, the article notes all MLS 2026 matches can be watched live on Apple TV and directs readers to Khel Now’s Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube pages and mobile apps for further updates.
