Mighty Marathas prevail in shootoff to down Chero Archers at People’s Plaza

Mighty Marathas rallied to beat Chero Archers in the Archery Premier League season 2 at People’s Plaza on Monday, prevailing 2-1 in a hit-or-miss shootoff after the match finished 4-4. The tiebreak followed four closely contested sets that required a review of arrow placements before the shoot-off.
Chero Archers began the match strongly, taking the opening set, but the second and third sets were evenly split between the teams. The fourth set produced another high aggregate score and needed a double check on where arrows had landed before Marathas levelled the contest to force the shootoff. In the deciding sequence, Aman Saini and Dhiraj Bommadevara put their arrows into the yellow ring, while Mathias Fullerton was the only Archer to match them, giving Marathas the 2-1 tiebreak victory.
Chola Chiefs struggled throughout their meeting with Rajputana Royals, failing to get their final arrow away in time in the opening set and only marginally improving in the second. The Chiefs brought Deepika Kumari and Marcus D’Almeida into the third set, but the substitutions were insufficient to reverse the damage. Mete Gazoz closed the match with a 10 on his final arrow to hand defending champion Rajputana Royals a comfortable win.
Kakatiya Knights interrupted Prithviraj Yoddhas’ attempt to move up the standings as Nico Wiener returned to the side and helped Knights surge to a 4-0 lead. Wiener, Neeraj Chauhan and Elia Canales delivered in the closing set to secure the result, while Jyothi Surekha experienced a rare off-day for Prithviraj Yoddhas.
The match scorelines were: Mighty Marathas 4 drew with Chero Archers 4 (74-76, 76-76, 77-77, 77-76). Marathas won 2-1 via tiebreaker. Rajputana Royals bt Chola Chiefs 5-1 (71-63, 74-69, 78-78). Kakatiya Knights bt Prithviraj Yodhas 6-2 (77-76, 76-75, 72-76, 77-73).
