Mohun Bagan register six foreign players after summer overhaul for ISL 2026-27
Mohun Bagan SG have completed a major revamp of their overseas roster ahead of the 2026-27 Indian Super League season, registering six foreign players for the campaign. The changes follow a narrow title loss to East Bengal in 2025-26, when both clubs finished level on points but the Torchbearers won the championship on superior goal difference.
The Mariners opened their transfer budget during the 2026 summer window and replaced four of their foreign signings while retaining two from the previous campaign. Club management targeted players with prior ISL experience to bolster the midfield and the attacking unit, and the squad will operate under head coach Panagiotis Dilmperis. The recruitment drive was intended to deepen options in key areas and increase attacking unpredictability.
Mohun Bagan secured Miguel Figueira on a free transfer from East Bengal; the Brazilian recorded seven goal contributions last season (two goals, five assists) and won the 2025-26 ISL Golden Ball as Best Player of the Season. The club described Figueira’s strengths as set-piece delivery, creativity from open play and the ability to carry the ball into advanced areas as a counter-attacking threat who can also finish chances.
The Mariners added Serbian winger Dejan Drazic, who spent 2025-26 at FC Goa where he scored six goals and provided three assists in the ISL. Drazic is a natural left-winger who can also operate as an attacking midfielder or centre-forward; the club highlighted his pace, ability to create opportunities with crosses and his propensity to get into scoring positions.
Lee Erwin was brought in as a new forward to replace the departed Jason Cummings, with the club noting Erwin has played professional football for over 14 years and will be relied upon for finishing and off-the-ball movement. Jamie Maclaren was retained after scoring 10 goals in 13 ISL appearances for Mohun Bagan in 2025-26, and the club expects him to continue producing consistent goals under the demands of the upcoming season.
Mohun Bagan signed Bosnian midfielder Samir Zeljkovic from Punjab FC; he is the only ex-Punjab player to follow Panagiotis Dilmperis to Kolkata and is expected to provide midfield stability. The club described Zeljkovic as proactive in tracking opposition buildup, capable of making tackles and recovering possession, with forward passing ability to create chances from deeper areas and reduce reliance on the Lalengmawia Ralte–Anirudh Thapa duo.
Spanish centre-back Alberto Rodriguez has been retained for at least another season and could form a new partnership with Rahul Bheke. The club outlined Rodriguez’s role as an aggressive defensive presence, responsible for duel-winning challenges, crucial clearances, moving the ball out from the back with his passing and posing a threat on set-pieces.
