Mohun Bagan SG beat Odisha FC 3-2 at Salt Lake Stadium to reclaim top spot in ISL 2026-27
Mohun Bagan SG defeated Odisha FC 3-2 at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on Thursday 5 November, 2026 in an Indian Super League 2026-27 fixture, with Dejan Drazic scoring twice and Lee Erwin netting a late winner. The result returned Mohun Bagan to the summit of the ISL points table.
The contest burst into life after the interval when Drazic opened the scoring in the 47th minute, only for Mahmoud Eid to level for Odisha a few minutes later. Drazic restored Mohun Bagan’s lead in the 74th minute, Everton equalised in the 79th, and Erwin produced a close-range finish in the 87th to secure Mohun Bagan’s fourth win in a row in the 2026-27 ISL.
Jamie Maclaren was named in Mohun Bagan’s matchday squad after missing the first four fixtures of the campaign through injury, but Lee Erwin’s display will complicate the selection for the number nine position. Erwin worked hard across the frontline, occupying defenders and creating space for teammates before converting the late chance that proved decisive.
Odisha, coached by TG Puroshothatam, did not adopt a defensive approach and pushed to challenge the Kolkata side throughout the match. Their willingness to attack contributed to them becoming the first team this season to score twice against Mohun Bagan, yet they remain without a win in the ISL campaign so far.
Panagiotis Dilmperis adjusted Dejan Drazic’s position for the game, moving him from the left wing into a role just behind Erwin because Sahal Abdul Samad and Miguel Figueira were absent. The change produced two goals for Drazic; his off-the-ball runs and trickery set up the first, and he completed his brace with a run into the penalty area for the second. The report noted, "Perhaps this is his ideal role to keep going forward in the ISL season."
Despite the victory, Mohun Bagan’s defence offered reasons for concern: the club has recorded only one clean sheet in their first five matches, and they conceded two avoidable second-half goals in this game. Rahul Bheke was left on the bench, leaving Alberto Rodriguez paired with Mehtab Singh; the article states both centre-backs made errors that led to goals and that Rodriguez has not developed the same understanding with Mehtab or Bheke as he had with previous partners.
The outcome leaves Mohun Bagan SG top of the ISL 2026-27 points table following their 3-2 win over Odisha FC at the Salt Lake Stadium on Thursday 5 November, 2026. The piece concludes that Panagiotis Dilmperis must address defensive security during the upcoming break to reduce opponents’ scoring opportunities.
