Mohun Bagan SG to host Punjab FC at Salt Lake in ISL 2026-27 Matchweek Four clash
Mohun Bagan SG will host Punjab FC at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan (Salt Lake Stadium) in Kolkata in Matchweek four of the Indian Super League 2026-27, in a preview published on 2026-10-30. The fixture pits the home side, coming off a 2-1 win over SC Delhi, against an unbeaten Punjab FC who sit joint-top of the table.
Mohun Bagan opened their campaign with a defeat to the Highlanders before registering a 2-1 victory over SC Delhi, and after playing their first two league games away they return to home ground for this match. Punjab began the season with a 2-1 win over Odisha FC, followed by a 1-1 draw with Mumbai City FC and a 3-2 victory over Churchill Brothers, leaving them unbeaten so far and level on points with the Highlanders.
Since Punjab’s entry into the Indian Super League the two clubs have met on seven occasions across competitions — five league encounters and two in the Durand Cup — with Mohun Bagan victorious in every meeting. Across those five ISL matches Mohun Bagan have recorded five wins while Punjab have yet to take a point off the Mariners in this fixture.
Their first encounter came in the Durand Cup when an own goal from Melroy Assisi and a strike from Hugo Boumous secured a 2-0 win for Mohun Bagan. In the 2024-25 season the Mariners completed a double over Punjab with 3-1 and 1-0 victories in their two league meetings.
The clubs also met in the 2025 Durand Cup quarterfinals at the JRD Tata Sports Complex in Jamshedpur, a tie that proceeded to sudden death and was decided by penalties, with Mohun Bagan prevailing 9-8.
Offensively, Mohun Bagan have scored 13 goals across the five ISL meetings with Punjab, an average of just under three goals per game, with Jamie Maclaren leading the fixture scorers with four goals and Jason Cummings and Alberto Rodriguez also contributing. Punjab have managed four goals in those five games, with Ricky Shabong and Luka Majcen among their scorers.
Dilmperis has been on the losing side every time he faced Mohun Bagan, and he will be up against his former side when these teams meet in Kolkata; the source states he will be keen to extend Mohun Bagan’s winning streak as the coach of the Kolkata giants after switching sides and crossing the divide.
The next match in Kolkata is set to add a new chapter to this rivalry, with on-field performance to determine whether Mohun Bagan’s perfect record against Punjab holds or the Shers register their first positive result.
