Mohun Bagan SG will meet Chennaiyin FC at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata on 26 October 2026, with kickoff scheduled for 19:30 IST in game week 3 of the 2026-27 Indian Super League. Both clubs are former two-time ISL champions, with Mohun Bagan holding that status since their 2020 merger with ATK FC.

Mohun Bagan arrive at their first home fixture after opening the season with away matches in Guwahati and Delhi and fresh from winning the 2026 IFA Shield. Their league campaign began with a 1-0 defeat to NorthEast United FC, the visitors scoring a late winner through Jithin MS, before Mohun Bagan recovered to overturn a deficit and beat Sporting Club Delhi 2-1. Chennaiyin have struggled in recent seasons, finishing 13th in the 2025/26 ISL campaign, one point above relegation.

Chennaiyin’s poor form has continued into 2026-27, with their problems in front of goal and conceding soft goals noted in an opening draw with FC Goa and a 2-0 loss to Bengaluru FC. The club’s drop from past heights is cited in coverage of the fixture and frames expectations for their trip to Kolkata. Chennaiyin’s two victories against Mohun Bagan in recent years both occurred at the Salt Lake Stadium.

The rivalry dates back to the ATK era, with ATK’s final game before merging with Mohun Bagan a 2019-20 ISL final victory over Chennaiyin. Since the merger, Mohun Bagan have dominated the head-to-head: they have remained unbeaten in 10 of the 12 meetings between the sides, winning six and drawing four.

Chennaiyin’s wins at Salt Lake were dramatic. In 2022-23 Thomas Brdaric’s side recovered from 1-0 down to win 2-1, and on the next trip under Owen Coyle they overturned an early Kauko goal for the Mariners by scoring in the 72nd and 80th minutes; Dimi Petratos equalized in the 94th minute and Irfan Yadwad scored in the 97th minute.

After those results the Mariners regained control of the fixture, taking three of the next four meetings, including a 2-0 victory in the 2025-26 AIFF Super Cup. The most recent encounter between the clubs at the Salt Lake Stadium finished 2-0 to Mohun Bagan, with Jamie Maclaren and Dimi Petratos on the scoresheet.

The two teams will meet on 26 October 2026 at the Salt Lake Stadium with kickoff at 19:30 IST; this fixture is Mohun Bagan’s first home match of the 2026-27 ISL season following their opening trips to Guwahati and Delhi.
