Mona Agarwal and Nishad Kumar will carry India’s flag at the closing ceremony of the Asian Para Games in Nagoya on Saturday, October 24, 2026.

Both athletes finished the Games with two gold medals each: 38-year-old shooter Mona Agarwal and 27-year-old jumps specialist Nishad Kumar. Their performances across rifle and T47 jump events placed them among India’s most successful competitors at the tournament.

Agarwal, who contracted polio at age nine that affected both her lower limbs and left her dependent on a wheelchair, opened her campaign by winning the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 with a Games record. She then broke the world record when she won the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1, securing her second gold on October 23, 2026.

Kumar lost his right arm at age six after a grass-cutting machine accident on his family’s farm in Himachal Pradesh and competes in T47 classification events. He claimed gold in both the men’s high jump and the men’s long jump T47 events to finish the Games with two titles.

Organisers selected the double gold medallists to serve as India’s representatives in the parade of nations at the closing ceremony. The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Nagoya on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
