Mona Agarwal won a second gold for India at the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya on Friday, October 23, 2026, setting a world record of 357.5 in the women's 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 final.

The previous world record of 356 was held by Sweden's Anna Benson, set in Novi Sad on July 26, 2026; China's Cuiping Zhang took silver in Nagoya with 353.7 and South Korea's Myoung Kim claimed bronze with 344.4, while India's Avani Lekhara finished fourth on 333.2.

Agarwal is a 38-year-old from Sikar, Rajasthan, who contracted polio at nine months old, affecting both her lower limbs; before focusing on rifle shooting she competed in para-athletics and para-powerlifting and played a prominent role in women's sitting volleyball, captaining Rajasthan's team to gold at the inaugural National Sitting Volleyball Championship in 2019.

She began competitive rifle shooting in December 2021 and recorded a national silver medal in 2022; at the 2023 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in Osijek she won bronze in the mixed team event and later that year took gold in the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 event at the World Cup in Changwon, South Korea.

Agarwal's breakthrough came at the World Shooting Para Sport World Cup in New Delhi in March 2024, where she won gold in the women's 10m air rifle SH1 with a score of 250.7, set an Asian record and secured a Paralympic quota place for India; she went on to win bronze in the women's 10m air rifle standing SH1 at the Paris 2024 Paralympics and also earned silver in the mixed team 10m air rifle at the New Delhi World Cup in 2024 along with another gold at Changwon that year.

Her achievements were recognised with the Arjuna Award in 2024, and she is a mother of two.

The world-record 357.5 in Nagoya gives Agarwal a second Asian Para Games gold and joins a sequence of international medals and honours already recorded in her career.
