India's bowling coach Morne Morkel said on 26 October 2026 that the side have "a bulletproof plan for everyone, including Bumrah" as India plan to keep backup bowlers in New Zealand for the two-Test series.
Morkel said the strategy is intended to manage workloads across five T20Is, five ODIs and the two Tests.
India will rotate bowlers during the ODI leg, and some players will prepare through India A matches to reduce the risk of burnout.
