MotoGP extends Silverstone British Grand Prix deal through 2028

MotoGP announced on 6 August 2026 that it had extended its partnership with Silverstone, keeping the British Grand Prix on the World Championship calendar through at least the 2028 season. The agreement adds the 2027 and 2028 seasons to the circuit’s MotoGP contract.

The British Grand Prix returned to Silverstone in 2010 after a 24-year absence, having previously been staged at Donington Park. Italy’s Marco Bezzecchi, currently fourth in the MotoGP standings, won at Silverstone last season. Silverstone is an established motorsport venue hosting multiple international series.

The extension specifically covers the 2027 and 2028 seasons, ensuring Silverstone will continue to host MotoGP beyond the current 2026 campaign. Organisers presented the renewal as a continuation of the existing relationship between the championship and the circuit.

Silverstone also stages Formula 1 and the European Le Mans Series and is set to return to the FIA World Endurance Championship schedule in 2027. Those commitments form part of the circuit’s wider international racing programme.

Stuart Pringle, CEO of Silverstone, said: "This extension underscores our commitment to two-wheel racing," and added: "This renewed partnership secures our place as the undisputed home of elite international racing."

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of MotoGP Group, said: "The UK has a rich motorcycle racing heritage and remains one of the most important markets for MotoGP. "Silverstone provides a fantastic stage for MotoGP, 11 different winners in the last 11 Grands Prix hosted at the circuit is a testament to the quality, competitiveness and unpredictability of racing at the circuit."

This year’s British Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, 9 August — the 12th of 22 races in the 2026 calendar.
