On October 30, 2026, Mumbai Indians announced their coaching staff for the Indian Premier League 2027, appointing Kieron Pollard as head coach and naming Robin Uthappa as batting coach.

The five-time champions finished ninth in the IPL 2026 points table and have not won the trophy since 2020, prompting several backroom changes ahead of the next season. Pollard replaces Mahela Jayawardene as head coach, and the franchise has parted ways with Lasith Malinga, Paras Mhambrey and Carl Hopkinson.

Kieron Pollard played for Mumbai Indians between 2010 and 2022 and was part of all five of their IPL title-winning campaigns during that period. He joined the coaching staff in 2023 after retiring from the IPL as a player. During his initial years on the staff he worked as the team’s batting coach.

Robin Uthappa returns to the franchise nearly 18 years after representing MI in the inaugural IPL season in 2008. He has played for Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings. The announcement described his appointment as drawing on his extensive IPL experience.

Mitchell McClenaghan, T. Dilip and Dhawal Kulkarni have also been added to the coaching group. McClenaghan represented MI between 2015 and 2020 and was part of four title-winning campaigns. Kulkarni won IPL titles with Mumbai Indians in 2013 and 2020.

The named support staff includes data analyst Varun L. and head massage therapist Amit Shah. The fitness and medical team features assistant strength and conditioning coach Pratik Kadam and assistant physiotherapist Amit Dubey.

With the coaching group in place, Mumbai Indians will turn their attention to squad planning. The IPL 2027 mini-auction is scheduled for December 16.
