Neeraj Chopra confirmed for men’s javelin at Lausanne Diamond League on August 21

India’s Neeraj Chopra will compete in the men’s javelin throw at the Lausanne Diamond League (Athletissima) on August 21 in Lausanne, Switzerland, organisers have confirmed.

The 28-year-old arrives in Switzerland fresh from a silver medal at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow and this will be his third appearance of the season, with organisers describing the field as one of the strongest javelin lineups seen this season.

The entry list includes reigning Olympic champion Arshad Nadeem, two-time world champion Anderson Peeters and Commonwealth Games 2026 gold medallist Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, with Keshorn Walcoot also named among Chopra’s rivals.

Chopra finished fourth at the Doha Diamond League event earlier this year, where the gold went to Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage, and Pathirage also beat him for gold at the Glasgow Games.

A two-time Olympic medallist, Chopra won back-to-back Lausanne titles in 2022 and 2023 and set a national record of 90.23m at the Doha Diamond League in 2025; organisers noted he has been coping with a long-standing lower-back injury and that an international title has eluded him for more than a year.

The men’s javelin throw at Athletissima is scheduled for August 21 in Lausanne, Switzerland; the exact event time has not yet been revealed.
