New three-stage format will carry league points at Men’s and Women’s Hockey World Cups

The upcoming FIH Men’s and Women’s World Cups in Belgium and the Netherlands will be played under a new three-stage format, the Times of India reported on 2026-08-11.

The format change will carry forward points earned in the opening league phase into the next stage, with results against teams faced in the league counting toward final rankings in the new pools.
