Nintendo says GTA 6 Switch 2 decision rests with Rockstar and Take-Two

Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard told Variety that whether Grand Theft Auto 6 will appear on Nintendo Switch 2 is a matter for Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive, saying “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” a remark reported on October 10, 2026. The comment comes amid anticipation for GTA 6’s November 19, 2026 release on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

Fans and Switch 2 owners have speculated about a port after multiple rumours suggested GTA 6 could arrive on Nintendo’s next system; Pritchard did not rule the possibility out and said Nintendo aims to offer the game to players of all ages while noting the ultimate decision lies with Rockstar Games and Take-Two. The company has made no announcement confirming a Switch 2 version.

During the Variety interview Pritchard reiterated that Nintendo is not the decision-maker on the matter, adding the short-form line quoted above: “That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time,” which leaves any formal plan pending an announcement from those publishers.

Media coverage and commentary have flagged technical challenges should Rockstar and Take-Two pursue a Switch 2 port; the article notes that even if both companies agreed, producing a smooth-running version could be difficult. The piece describes GTA 6 as Rockstar’s most ambitious open-world game ever and states there is not yet a clear sense of how it will perform on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

At present the game is scheduled to launch exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026, and the article confirms there is no official word that the release will extend to additional platforms. Nintendo’s position, as conveyed by Pritchard, places responsibility for any cross-platform decision with Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive.

Any confirmation about a Switch 2 release would therefore need to come from Rockstar or Take-Two; the article directs readers seeking further updates to follow Khel Now Gaming on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, or via the Khel Now Android App, IOS App, Telegram and Whatsapp.
