Nintendo Switch 2 Lite rumours point to $299 price, Samsung 8LPU+ chip and 2027 window

On November 2, 2026, new reports circulated online suggesting Nintendo may be developing a lower-cost handheld console called the Switch 2 Lite. The reports set out tentative specifications and a possible 2027 release while noting that Nintendo has not officially announced the device.

Those reports link the rumoured handheld to Samsung’s 8LPU+ manufacturing process and to social-media posts that cite specific performance claims: 12% better performance and 15% lower power consumption, along with the possibility of cheaper hardware. Industry commentary accompanying the circulated material has also speculated the figures could make a smaller, more efficient handheld viable without official confirmation.

Rumours suggest a $299 price point, but Nintendo has not confirmed any pricing; if accurate, the figure is presented as a budget-friendly alternative to the Switch 2 console. Some coverage of the leaks has additionally suggested Nintendo might revive a discounted-first-party programme similar to Nintendo Selects to support the lower-priced model.

Design details in the reports indicate TV docking would be sacrificed for pure handheld portability, mirroring the approach of the original Nintendo Switch Lite. The accounts emphasise that Nintendo hasn’t disclosed any details regarding a possible replacement or official product configuration.

The various reports name 2027 as a targeted release window, but there is no official roadmap or verified supply-chain information that can back this claim. The coverage notes Nintendo has been silent on the matter and that, for now, there is no confirmed information regarding the Switch 2 Lite hardware.

Nintendo has not officially announced a Switch 2 Lite. For more updates, the original publisher directs readers to follow Khel Now Gaming on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, download the Khel Now Android App or iOS App, or join its community on Telegram and Whatsapp.
