Nitish Kumar Reddy Omitted from India XI for Second ODI in Guwahati; Auqib Nabi To Debut

Nitish Kumar Reddy was left out of India’s playing XI for the second ODI against West Indies at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati for the second match of the three-match series, with Auqib Nabi named as his replacement and set to make his ODI debut.

India won the opening ODI in Thiruvananthapuram, with Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli both scoring centuries in that game. Kohli’s unbeaten 139 also helped him cross the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket, while Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets in the first match.

Shubman Gill confirmed the change at the toss, stating that India had made one alteration to their playing XI for the Guwahati fixture. Auqib Nabi replaces Nitish Kumar Reddy and will be making his first ODI appearance for India.

Nitish Kumar Reddy had featured in the first ODI and was used with the new ball; he conceded 45 runs from his five overs and did not take a wicket. The reason behind Reddy not being picked is still unknown, but it can be assumed that he was dropped owing to his poor performance in the opening match.

Gill also said the Guwahati pitch had more grass and looked patchier, which could offer more help to the pacers.

India enter the second ODI holding a 1-0 lead in the three-match series following their victory in Thiruvananthapuram.
