No reserve day for men's cricket semi-finals at Asian Games 2026

All four men's quarter-finals at the Asian Games 2026 in Japan were abandoned because of heavy rain, and with the semi-finals scheduled for October 1 there is no reserve day for the two men's semi-finals at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin.
The washouts meant India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh progressed to the last four based on ICC T20I rankings; India, the defending champions, were due to play Afghanistan in the quarter-final but moved through after that match was abandoned. India have been drawn to face Sri Lanka in one semi-final, while Pakistan will meet Bangladesh in the other.
There is no reserve day for either semi-final, and competition regulations state that if a semi-final is abandoned without a result the higher-ranked team will advance to the final. That ranking mechanism was used to move India into the semi-finals after their quarter-final versus Afghanistan was washed out, and because India are ranked higher than Sri Lanka they would progress to the gold-medal match if their semi-final is also abandoned.
The same advancement rule applies to the Pakistan vs Bangladesh semi-final: if that match is washed out Pakistan would advance because they hold the higher ranking. Tournament organisers have confirmed there is also no reserve day scheduled for the men's bronze-medal match.
There is likewise no reserve day for the men's final; if the gold-medal match is completely washed out and no play is possible both finalists will be awarded gold medals and ICC rankings will not be used to decide the winner. That outcome differs from the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, where India were awarded gold after the final against Afghanistan was washed out because India were the higher-ranked side at that time.
Both men's semi-finals are scheduled for October 1, with the final set for October 3 at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin; with rain continuing to be a concern, Khel Now advises following Khel Now Cricket on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube or via its Android and iOS apps for further updates.
