Norris beats Antonelli to win Dutch Grand Prix

Lando Norris beat Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli to win the Dutch Grand Prix in the first race after Formula 1's summer break. Norris had also won the Hungarian Grand Prix from pole position before the summer break.
The race began amid chaos when Max Verstappen crashed his Red Bull at high speed on a damp track at the end of the first lap, prompting a red flag. At the restart Antonelli took the lead from Norris. Through two pit stops Norris built a tyre offset, fought back and passed Antonelli to take the victory.
Lewis Hamilton had been leading the race while running out of sync on his pit stops and was briefly ahead of the battling pair. Norris went past Hamilton later on the same lap to take the on-track lead. That move was a key part of Norris and McLaren's strategy.
A late virtual safety car sparked controversy over team orders at Mercedes when George Russell was instructed to let Antonelli pass into second place, leaving him vulnerable to Hamilton. The virtual safety car was deployed to allow marshals to recover debris on track. Russell, aided by that intervention, held Hamilton off to secure the final podium position.
Further back, Fernando Alonso earned Aston Martin-Honda their first points since the incident-strewn Monaco race with an excellent drive on a one-stop strategy to ninth place. His result provided points for Aston Martin after their recent run without scoring.
The key stories from the race included a masterclass from Norris and McLaren, visible strategic execution by the winners. There was noted unhappiness over team orders at both Mercedes and Ferrari. The weekend also offered further evidence that Aston Martin are making progress at last.
The outcome tightened Antonelli's grip on the title. Norris secured the Dutch Grand Prix victory.
