Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Javi Rueda as Axel Disasi moves to Crystal Palace on loan

Nottingham Forest are in negotiations with Celta Vigo over the €15m (£12.8m) transfer of right-back Javi Rueda, and Chelsea have loaned defender Axel Disasi to Crystal Palace for the season, the club confirmed on Wednesday.

Manager Oliver Glasner has been searching for a player capable of filling the right wing-back role and the 24-year-old Rueda is understood to match that profile; the signing would likely be Forest’s final incoming of the summer window following the arrival of Liam Delap from Chelsea. The proposed fee is €15m (£12.8m), with Real Madrid set to receive half the payment for a player who came through their academy.

Rueda, a former Spain youth international, moved to Celta three years ago from Real Madrid and made his first-team breakthrough last season, appearing in 26 La Liga matches and 11 Europa League games as Celta reached the Europa League quarter-finals. Those appearances were cited in discussions around his suitability for Forest’s wing-back requirement.

Forest confirmed on Wednesday that wing-back Eric da Silva Moreira will spend the season on loan at Dutch side Excelsior to aid his development. Chelsea have agreed a £50m deal to sell Liam Delap to Forest, a move that forms part of the club’s summer transfer business.

Chelsea have also loaned Axel Disasi to Crystal Palace for the season; Disasi has previously been loaned to Aston Villa and West Ham since his move to Chelsea from Monaco. On joining Palace he said: “I know that it’s very tough to play against Palace at Selhurst Park – so I’m looking forward to being on the other side now.”

Separately, Brentford have reached an agreement with West Ham to sign left-back El Hadji Malick Diouf for £35m plus up to £5m in add-ons. Diouf, the left-back, has been keen to leave West Ham since their relegation.

If the Rueda transfer is completed it would probably conclude Nottingham Forest’s summer recruitment, coming after the club’s capture of Liam Delap from Chelsea; Disasi will spend the season on loan at Crystal Palace while Eric da Silva Moreira heads to Excelsior for the campaign.
