Odisha FC v NorthEast United FC: Four individual matchups that could decide the ISL fixture

Odisha FC will host NorthEast United FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Saturday, October 24, 2026, in an Indian Super League 2026-27 fixture, with several one-on-one battles expected to influence the outcome.

NorthEast United began the ISL 2026-27 season with consecutive wins over Mohun Bagan SG and the Kerala Blasters, while Odisha FC opened with a 2-1 defeat to Punjab FC and a 1-1 draw with Inter Kashi; NorthEast enter the game as favourites but have never beaten Odisha on Odisha’s home turf, a factor that gives the hosts a psychological edge.

Mahmoud Eid, signed by Odisha FC over the summer to lead their attack, has appeared in both of OFC’s games but has taken just three shots so far; Eneko Satrustegui, who will play at the heart of NorthEast’s defence, has made 16 defensive contributions in two ISL matches and provided an assist against the Kerala Blasters, and he will be tasked with containing Eid.

Rahim Ali has not had the best start to his ISL 26-27 season and will be seeking a goal contribution, as will Mahmoud Eid, and the Odisha FC winger will have a physical advantage over Nikhil Barla, although the right-back is quick and experienced; Rahim Ali and Nikhil Barla have both represented the Indian football team in the past and would be aware of each other’s playing style.

An all-Spanish midfield duel between Odisha’s Manu Molina and NorthEast’s Antonio Moyano will centre on possession and game control: Moyano has a goal and an assist this season, while Molina is yet to be dispossessed in this ISL season, making their matchup pivotal for which side dictates play.

Stephen Eze, described as a veteran defender who joined Odisha FC over the summer after three seasons with Jamshedpur FC, has made 19 defensive contributions in two ISL matches for the Kalinga Warriors; facing him will be NorthEast’s Alaeddine Ajaraie, who scored a brace against Kerala Blasters and is the favourite to win the ISL Golden Boot once again.

The Odisha FC vs NorthEast United FC match will kick off at 7:30 PM IST and can be watched live on YouTube and Sony LIV, with the contest also available on the Sony TEN Network.
