Ospreys secure bonus-point win over Dragons in St Helen's return

Ospreys claimed 10 out of 10 points against Dragons in the 2026-27 season as they recorded a bonus-point victory at St Helen's on 24 October 2026, their first game back at the Swansea venue. The home side scored five tries in heavy rain in front of 5,592 spectators to complete the result.
Mark Jones' team opened the match strongly and led 19-7 at the interval after two tries from Reuben Morgan-Williams and a score from captain Sam Parry, with Dan Edwards on goal-kicking duty. Dragons reduced the deficit when Rio Dyer crossed with the final play of the half, but Ospreys extended their advantage in the second period via a penalty try awarded for an illegally halted line-out drive and a try from Ross Moriarty. The visitors' other try came from Anzelo Tuitavuki; Tinus de Beer kicked two conversions.
Ospreys' first try arrived in the sixth minute when scrum-half Morgan-Williams powered over from close range and Edwards converted. Morgan-Williams then benefited from a Dragons handling error after Lalakai Foketi's grubber to score again shortly before half-time, and Parry went over after Edwards found touch with a penalty and the pack drove over from a five-metre line-out.
The second half began with Ospreys awarded a penalty try for a 20-metre driving line-out being stopped illegally, during which Dragons' scrum-half Rhodri Williams was sin-binned. Dragons lost lock Ben Carter to a head injury and later received a yellow card for de Beer; shortly after Williams returned, Edwards kicked to the corner and the Ospreys pack converted pressure into a try for Moriarty. Tuitavuki crossed with roughly 15 minutes remaining, but Aneurin Owen then received a yellow card for a head-on-head tackle.
The match featured several disciplinary incidents with yellow cards shown to R Williams (41), De Beer (54) and Owen (67). Dyer did not return for the second half and Carter was withdrawn with a head injury. Assistant referees for the game were Craig Evans and Ben Breakspear (Wales).
The return to St Helen's was followed by pre-match ceremonies and recollections of the venue's recent use: Ospreys had played at Bridgend's Brewery Field in 2025-26 and previously played at St Helen's only once since 2005, during a 2020 Covid-era fixture against Benetton. The club has downsized since leaving the Swansea.com Stadium in 2025, and while work remains on the ground there was a lively atmosphere despite torrential rain; at half-time a supporter won a £20,000 bathroom prize by passing the ball through a hole.
Ospreys named Rogers; Hopkins, Watkin (co-capt), K Williams, Giles; Edwards, Morgan-Williams; G Thomas, Parry (co-capt), Botha, R Davies, Smith, Wright, Deaves, Morris, with replacements Daniel, S Thomas, Henry, Sutton, Moriarty, Davies, Creighton and Foketi. Dragons selected Anderson; Dyer, Paea, Owen, Tuitavuki; de Beer, R Williams; Martinez, Dee, Lewis, S Davies, Carter (capt), Langton-Cryer, Beddall and Lewis-Hughes, with Burrows, J Morris, Coleman, Screech, Minto, Hope, J Lloyd and Inisi on the bench.
Ospreys completed a quickfire double over Dragons after also winning at Rodney Parade a fortnight earlier and have now won three consecutive matches; they will host Cardiff on Saturday, 31 October (19:45 GMT) to finish the first block of the season, while Dragons face Zebre in Newport as they seek a response to this defeat.
