Pakistan Cricket Board under Mohsin Naqvi backs Mike Hesson to remain interim Test coach

On November 8, 2026, the Pakistan Cricket Board under Mohsin Naqvi said it will keep Mike Hesson as Pakistan’s interim Test head coach until the end of the current World Test Championship cycle, including next year’s New Zealand series.

The PCB said it will review Hesson’s future after the 2027 World Cup.

Hesson’s growing influence over team selection has drawn criticism, and Babar Azam has admitted he has no role in selecting players despite being the Test captain.
