On October 15, 2026, Indian boxer Parveen Hooda won gold in the women’s 65kg category at the Asian Games, defeating Chinese Taipei’s Nien-chin Che in the final.
Hooda had secured an Olympic quota before a 22-month ban for three whereabouts failures ruled her out of the Paris Olympics.
Her father, Lakhpat Hooda, has been battling stage-three throat cancer and heart problems. Despite having no competition to prepare for, she continued training.
