S-GAME used Sony’s PlayStation State of Play on August 18, 2026 to reveal fresh gameplay footage and feature details for Phantom Blade Zero, the studio’s action RPG due later this year.

The developers confirmed the game is scheduled to launch on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC and described a world that is neither fully open-world nor strictly linear; instead it comprises eight interconnected regions with each level handcrafted. The map is hand-painted and takes inspiration from traditional Chinese ink wash art, while locations can be unlocked and revisited using a fast-travel system called Bells. Players will encounter hidden enemies, optional side quests and valuable treasures as part of the exploration design.

S-GAME emphasized combat as the central pillar of Phantom Blade Zero, presenting a style the team calls "Kung-fu Punk," which blends traditional Chinese martial arts with steampunk technology and body modification. The developers showed fast-paced encounters and dynamic boss fights intended to test players’ adaptability. The team stated there are 55 weapons in total, comprised of 30 primary and 25 secondary weapons.

Weapon progression allows players to unlock new combat skills, improve weapons, reset the skill tree at any time and tailor builds for each run, according to the presentation. Weapons can be upgraded to grant unique combat forms and exclusive techniques, with each tool designed to carry its own identity and playstyle.

Difficulty options include three standard settings plus a special mode called "66 Days" in which players have 66 lives to complete the entire game. The presentation also noted that on Hellwalker difficulty the likelihood of encountering a boss rises significantly.

Enemies in Phantom Blade Zero were described as not following fixed attack patterns; instead they engage in real time and adapt to the specific attacks they have observed, while punishing attacks they have not seen before. That adaptive behavior was shown alongside demonstrations of the interconnected levels, varied weapon usage and boss encounters.

Phantom Blade Zero will launch on October 29, 2026 for PlayStation 5 and PC, following the features and systems outlined during the PlayStation State of Play.
