Poovamma, Vishal, Vithya and Manu win silver in mixed 4x400m relay at Asian Games 2026

Poovamma MR, Vishal TK, Vithya Ramaraj and Manu TS won the silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay at the Asian Games 2026 in Nagoya. The Indian quartet finished second in the final.

Vishal TK began the race for India and passed the baton to Poovamma MR for the second leg. Manu TS ran the third leg and kept India in contention before Vithya Ramaraj took over on the anchor. Ramaraj produced an impressive final leg to secure the podium place for India.

Bahrain’s Salwa Eid Nasser produced a strong anchor leg to claim gold for her country. The race for the top spot was decided on the closing leg, with Salwa finishing ahead of the Indian anchor.

India completed the mixed 4x400m relay in 3:14.46 to take silver. Bahrain won gold in 3:12.87 and the bronze medalists recorded a time of 3:14.54.

Earlier in the athletics programme, Seema Kumari won bronze in the women’s 10,000m, having been in contention until the final stages as Winfred Yavi and Nozomi Tanaka contested the top two positions. Winfred Yavi clocked 32:29.18 for gold, Nozomi Tanaka took silver in 32:41.54 and Seema Kumari finished third in 32:50.05.

The mixed 4x400m silver added another athletics medal to India’s haul at the Asian Games 2026.
