Prabath Jayasuriya receives ICC reprimand after gloves-throw in Colombo Test
Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Prabath Jayasuriya was officially reprimanded by the ICC in Colombo on Monday, August 24, 2026, for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second Test against India.

The ICC issued a statement noting the reprimand in the context of the match, saying: “Sri Lanka spinner Prabath Jayasuriya has become the third player to be sanctioned for an incident during the second ICC World Test Championship contest against India after he was hit with an official reprimand following his dismissal in his side’s first innings,” the ICC said.
Match referee Andy Pycroft proposed the official reprimand that Jayasuriya accepted, resulting in the single demerit point recorded against the player. The ICC described the sanction as a Level 1 breach under its Code of Conduct and recorded the admission and acceptance of the penalty in its formal communication.
The dismissal and subsequent sanction occurred at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo; the published report carried a photo caption noting Jayasuriya walking back to the pavilion after losing his wicket to Manav Suthar, with the image credited to ANI.
