Prasidh Krishna takes 3-35 as Sri Lanka 130-4 at lunch in Colombo

Prasidh Krishna claimed 3-35 as Sri Lanka reached 130 for four at lunch on Day 3 of the second Test against India at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo on August 25, 2026.

India declared their first innings on 503 for nine on Day 2, propelled by Devdutt Padikkal's 117 and Druv Jurel's unbeaten 115, leaving Sri Lanka trailing by 373 at the lunch interval on Tuesday.

Pasindu Sooriyabandara was unbeaten on 65 at lunch, while captain Dhananjaya de Silva was 4 not out; Sooriyabandara compiled his innings from 93 balls and struck nine boundaries. Sooriyabandara had been dismissed first ball in the first Test at Galle when he batted as a concussion substitute for Dinesh Chandimal.

Sooriyabandara and Kamindu Mendis rebuilt the reply with an 87-run partnership off 126 deliveries, Mendis contributing 32 to that stand. The partnership ended shortly before lunch when Mendis hit a delivery from Krishna to Ravindra Jadeja at midwicket and was dismissed.

Sri Lanka had been in early trouble, slipping to 8 for two by stumps, and overnight batter Kamil Mishara, who made 19, fell with the total on 35. Krishna finished the morning with figures of 3-35 and spin bowler Manav Suthar also claimed a wicket for India.

Only 58 overs were possible on Day 2 because of rain, and further showers on Tuesday threatened to shorten play again.

India leads the two-match series after defeating Sri Lanka by 165 runs in the first Test at Galle.
