PSG set Champions League record in 6-0 win as Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0

Paris Saint-Germain set a Champions League record in a 6-0 demolition of Villarreal while Barcelona beat Aston Villa 3-0 at Camp Nou on Tuesday in group-stage fixtures. PSG reached the milestone despite the absence of several regular players.
PSG were without Ousmane Dembele, Marquinhos, Nuno Mendes and long-term absentee Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, yet Luis Enrique's side overwhelmed Villarreal. Aston Villa had won their opening three matches in the league phase before Barcelona ended that run.
PSG scored four times inside the opening 17 minutes, reaching that mark in just 16 minutes and two seconds to set the new Champions League benchmark. Joao Neves opened in the ninth minute, Desire Doue made it 2-0 in the 12th, Senny Mayulu struck in the 13th and Fabian Ruiz completed the burst in the 17th minute, with Villarreal defensive errors contributing to three goals after Neves' opener. The previous fastest quadruple had been Real Madrid's four goals in 20 minutes against Dinamo Zagreb in 2011.
The champions continued to add goals after the interval, Ruiz scoring his second of the night and 17-year-old David Boly coming off the bench to mark his Champions League debut with a goal in the 78th minute. PSG's 6-0 victory left them top of the league-phase standings with 12 points from four matches.
At Camp Nou, Lamine Yamal opened for Barcelona in the seventh minute after intercepting a misplaced pass from Joao Gomes and finishing in the bottom corner. Raphinha scored twice after the break — a deflected effort in the 52nd minute and a 64th-minute first-time finish from Joao Cancelo's outside-of-the-foot delivery — to complete the 3-0 win that moved Barcelona to second in the standings, ahead of Villa on goal difference.
The Barcelona victory was tempered by a midfield concern as Rodri was forced off at half-time, replaced by Marc Bernal after experiencing muscular pain, with Barcelona coach Hansi Flick confirming a suspected calf problem and the club awaiting further examinations on Wednesday. Barcelona travel to face Atletico Madrid on Sunday and currently lead their rivals by two points.
Other notable results across Europe saw Bayern Munich beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 without head coach Vincent Kompany, Lennart Karl opening the scoring in the 54th minute and becoming the fourth-youngest player to reach five Champions League goals before Konrad Laimer sealed the win after a Harry Kane set-up. Manchester United came from 2-0 down to defeat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford, with Bruno Fernandes converting a retaken penalty prior to Matheus Cunha scoring twice; Cunha was sent off late on and United recorded their first win in 10 matches. Galatasaray beat Stuttgart 2-0, Sporting Lisbon defeated Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0, Inter Milan won 3-0 over Feyenoord, LASK thrashed Slovan Bratislava 4-0 and Bodo/Glimt drew 0-0 with Lille.
PSG remain top of their group on 12 points from four matches while Barcelona occupy second on goal difference; Barcelona will travel to Atletico Madrid on Sunday and await Wednesday's examinations to assess the severity of Rodri's suspected calf problem.
