Psyonix reveals first Rocket League gameplay on Unreal Engine 6 in developer video

As the game heads into a new season, Psyonix released a behind-the-scenes developer video showing Rocket League running on Unreal Engine 6, providing the first public gameplay glimpse of the engine upgrade.
Several professional players took part in early testing: closed playtests were held in Cary, North Carolina, and Paris during June and August, with RLCS competitors JSTN, Firstkiller, Archie, Zen and others participating in those sessions.
Some players reported early mechanical differences compared with the current version; "Some motions and advanced mechanics were somewhat delayed when tested early, Archie said." Zen praised the developers for listening to player input during the evaluation process.
The footage and developer commentary highlighted multiple visual and interface changes, including a redesigned scoreboard, more detailed environments and improved lighting, alongside upgraded car modes.
Interface adjustments extend to the boost display, which has been reworked into a circular speedometer intended to represent car speed more clearly.
The presentation also briefly showed a redesigned Epic launcher that features Rocket League alongside Fortnite, LEGO Fortnite, Disney experiences and other Epic titles.
Psyonix confirmed the integration of Rocket League into Unreal Engine 6 remains scheduled for 2027 but has not provided an exact release date.
The studio said it will continue to gather feedback from professional players to test future builds as development proceeds toward the planned 2027 release.
