Punjab FC announced on August 25, 2026 that they have signed Cameroonian central defender Jephthe Patrick Gerard Bahanack ahead of the Indian Super League 2026-27 season. The club confirmed the acquisition in an official statement issued on that date.

The 29-year-old is measured at 1.85 metres (6 ft 1 in) and is a left-footed centre-half who the club described as offering a robust physical presence combined with calm distribution from the back. Punjab FC named Pavlos Dermitzakis as their head coach in the announcement and indicated the signing was part of the club’s recruitment activity for the upcoming campaign. The club also used social media to publicise the move with the hashtags #IndianFootball #ISL #PunjabFC.

Bahanack began his development at N.K.U.F.O. Academy Sports in Cameroon before moving to France to join Stade Reims. He subsequently played in Greece, making notable appearances for Ergotelis, Lamia and Niki Volos. He played a key role in Levadiakos’s Super League 2 title-winning campaign during the 2021–22 season. The club’s announcement described his career as an extensive spell across European leagues.

Most recently, Bahanack featured in the Cypriot First Division with Ethnikos Achna, where the club said he served as a reliable defensive asset. Commenting on his move to India, Patrick Bahanack said: “I am extremely proud to join a club with such an ambitious vision. Punjab FC’s project under Roundglass Sports instantly appealed to me, and I am highly motivated to embrace this new challenge. I look forward to working hard alongside the squad, fighting for every point, and making the fans proud this season.”

Punjab FC framed the signing as part of a strategy to assemble a technically gifted, battle-tested squad designed to be resilient and well balanced as they contest the coming season’s competitions. The club presented Bahanack as a reinforcement aimed at strengthening its defensive options.

Bahanack has signed on an agreement running until May 31, 2027. That contract covers the period that includes the Indian Super League 2026-27 campaign.
