PV Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt in the women’s singles final of the HYLO Open in Saarbrücken, Germany on Sunday, winning 21-12, 21-14 in 39 minutes to claim the BWF Super 500 title.

The victory was Sindhu’s second title of the 2026 season and her first at the HYLO Open; she had won the Japan Open in July where she beat Akane Yamaguchi. Sindhu, a two-time Olympic medallist, entered the tournament as the second seed and arrived in Saarbrücken a week after finishing runner-up to An Se Young at the French Open.

Sindhu progressed through the draw without dropping a game, opening with a win over Prakriti Bharath and then defeating Rosy Oktavia Pancasari to reach the quarter-finals. She beat Denmark’s Amalie Schulz to advance to the semi-finals and overcame compatriot Anmol Kharb 21-13, 21-16 to secure her place in the final. In the championship match she dismissed Line Højmark Kjærsfeldt in straight games to lift the trophy.

As champion Sindhu received US$37,500, approximately ₹35.7 lakh, from the event’s US$500,000 total prize pool. The men’s and women’s singles winners each earned US$37,500 while the runner-ups received US$19,000 (approximately ₹18.1 lakh). Prize-money distribution for the singles events also awarded US$7,250 to semi-finalists, US$3,000 to quarter-finalists and US$1,750 to players eliminated in the round of 16; winning pairs in the doubles categories received US$39,500 per pair.

The HYLO Open triumph earned Sindhu 9,200 BWF ranking points, strengthening her position in the race to qualify for the season-ending World Tour Finals. Her back-to-back appearances in the French Open final followed by the HYLO Open title were noted in the report as providing momentum heading into the final stretch of the season.

Sindhu is not part of the entry list for next week’s Korea Open and is expected to return to action at the Super 500 Japan Masters, which gets underway from November 10.

The HYLO Open win granted Sindhu both the US$37,500 payout and 9,200 ranking points and marked her first title at this event; she is scheduled to resume competition at the Japan Masters beginning November 10.
