PV Sindhu rises to world No. 6 after Hylo Open; Lakshya Sen moves to 13 in BWF rankings

On 3 November 2026, following their Hylo Open title wins in Germany, PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen advanced in the latest BWF world rankings after successful runs at the tournament.
Sindhu defeated Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt in straight games, 21-12, 21-14, to capture the women’s singles title in Germany; the match ended in 38 minutes at Saarlandhalle and was her second BWF title of the year. The two-time Olympic medallist is a former World No. 2, and Sindhu’s best-ever BWF ranking was 2, achieved nine years ago in April 2022.
A week earlier Sindhu returned to the top 10 after finishing runner-up at the French Open Super 750 in Paris, where she recorded wins over Japan’s Hina Akechi, Taiwan’s Chiu Pin-chian and Thailand’s Supanida Katethong to reach the final against South Korea’s An Se-young; she lost that match 16-21, 21-11, 21-12. The 31-year-old’s run in Paris preceded her title at the Hylo Open.
Commonwealth Games gold medallist Lakshya Sen, 25, claimed the men’s singles crown in Germany after a difficult start that included a one-hour marathon against Finland’s Joakim Oldorff in the round of 32 and a disappointing exit from the French Open the previous month. Sen defeated France’s Toma Junior Popov in straight games in 41 minutes in the semi-final and beat Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie in the final, 21-17, 21-10, with the Christie match also taking 41 minutes.
Sen was 14th in the global rankings last week and has moved up one place to 13th; his best-ever ranking has been 6, which he achieved four years ago, in November 2022. Among other Indians, Tanvi Sharma has replaced Unnati Hooda as India’s number two in women’s singles after Hooda’s loss to Anmol Kharb in the Hylo Open quarter-finals; Hooda dropped two places to WR-23 while Tanvi climbed to WR-21.
Sindhu has climbed two spots to be ranked World No. 6 in the latest rankings. Sen has climbed by one position to the 13th spot in men’s singles.
