Arthur Fery lost to Quentin Halys 7-6 7-5 in the first round of the Paris Masters on 3 November 2026, exiting the final ATP Masters 1000 event of the season in straight sets. The defeat ended the Wimbledon semi-finalist's run in the tournament at the first hurdle.

Fery, a 24-year-old Brit, reached a career-high ATP singles ranking of 32 this season and made a deep run at Wimbledon earlier in the year. Alongside that Wimbledon performance, he missed out on his first ATP 250 title after losing the Winston-Salem Open final to Ignacio Buse in August. Halys is 30 and was competing in the season’s last Masters 1000 event.

Both players held serve throughout the opening set, which was settled in a tie-break. Halys won the tie-break after saving two set points to take the first set 7-6.

Early in the second set Halys fended off two break points, while Fery produced an excellent lob to save Halys' first break chance. The 24-year-old Brit eventually held serve in a single game that lasted more than eight minutes.

As Fery pushed to force a deciding set, Halys saved another break point to maintain his hold. A superb forehand winner earned Halys the decisive break and he then served for the match.

Halys sealed the victory with an ace to complete the 7-6 7-5 win. He will next meet seventh seed Frances Tiafoe, who received a first-round bye.
