Raheem Sterling charged over M3 crash with dangerous driving and nitrous oxide possession

Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide after a single-vehicle crash involving a Lamborghini on the M3 southbound near the Minley interchange on 28 May, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said. The 31-year-old is also accused of failing to provide a specimen.

The force said the charges followed the collision on 28 May and that no other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported. The statement identified Sterling as being from Berkshire and listed the offences as dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation and failing to provide a specimen.

Sterling scored 20 goals in 82 appearances for England and played under Gareth Southgate as the side reached the 2018 World Cup semi-finals and the final of Euro 2020. Those figures represent his official international goal and appearance totals.

He came through the Queens Park Rangers academy before moving to Liverpool, where he made his senior debut. Sterling then transferred to Manchester City in 2015, during which period he won four Premier League titles, five League Cups and the FA Cup.

Sterling left Manchester City to join Chelsea in 2022. After falling out of favour at Chelsea, he spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Arsenal.
