Rain-abandoned Bready game ends Ireland's direct path to 2027 ODI World Cup
Ireland's hopes of direct qualification for the 2027 ODI World Cup were ended on August 6, 2026, when their opening match against Afghanistan at Bready was abandoned because of an incessant downpour.
As a result, Ireland must now play the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament to try to secure a place in the 2027 event.
