Rain forces abandonment of India-Afghanistan quarter-final at Asian Games 2026; India progress to semi-finals

The Indian men's cricket team progressed to the Asian Games 2026 semi-finals in Nagoya on Monday, September 28, 2026, after their quarter-final against Afghanistan was abandoned because of inclement weather.

Separately, the first quarter-final between Pakistan and Hong Kong was also washed out, with Pakistan advancing on the basis of their higher ICC ranking.

India will now be paired against the winners of the quarter-final between Nepal and Sri Lanka; tournament organisers stated a contingency that if the Nepal–Sri Lanka match is abandoned, Sri Lanka would meet India in the semi-final by virtue of their higher ranking.

The abandoned India–Afghanistan fixture and the washed-out Pakistan–Hong Kong game leave the Asian Games men's cricket bracket altered by weather, with advancing teams determined by ICC seeding rather than on-field results for these ties.
