Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants are in talks over a multi-player swap ahead of the Indian Premier League 2027 auction in Goa on December 16, 2026. Reports say the proposed exchange would involve a top-order batter and a front-line fast bowler.

Franchises across the league are busy preparing for the auction, with some already completing high-profile moves while others continue to negotiate potential trades. Rajasthan Royals are reported to be searching for a premier fast bowler who performed well for Lucknow Super Giants last season. Lucknow Super Giants have identified an aggressive top-order batter as a target to bolster their batting. According to the reports, Rajasthan Royals also expect to receive a spinner alongside the fast bowler, and both clubs have yet to issue official statements.

Cricbuzz reports the discussions could amount to a substantial exchange involving around 3 or 4 players, centring on an established batter and a front-line pacer. The same coverage states Rajasthan Royals are prepared to part with one explosive batter in return for the pace option and a spinner.

Lucknow Super Giants were the first franchise to make a trade ahead of the IPL 2027 auction, acquiring Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals and swapping their captain Rishabh Pant. Sunrisers Hyderabad have been the most active franchise in recent trades, completing multiple deals as the window opened.

Sunrisers Hyderabad acquired Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis from Chennai Super Kings in place of Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards. Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad traded in T. Natarajan from Delhi Capitals in place of Zeeshan Ansari, according to the reports.

There are also reported trade rumours surrounding Hardik Pandya, with several franchises said to be interested and Punjab Kings listed among the front-runners. Indian franchise MI have been linked with a package that would include Arshdeep Singh and keeper-batter Vishnu Vinod, a move the reports describe as potentially one of the biggest trades in IPL history if it materialises.
