Ranji Trophy 2026-27: Dharmendrasinh’s five puts Hyderabad 275/9, nine behind Chhattisgarh

Dharmendrasinh Jadeja took five wickets as Chhattisgarh left Hyderabad 275 for nine, nine runs short of Chhattisgarh’s first-innings 284 in a Ranji Trophy 2026-27 match in Hyderabad on November 3, 2026. The left-arm spinner’s influence dominated Hyderabad’s reply while earlier the hosts had used the new ball to wrap up Chhattisgarh’s innings.
The team notes had warned — “reckon with Dharmendrasinh Jadeja and you will go the distance” — and Hyderabad found that forecast difficult to shake off as they closed short of the visitors’ total. After a previous match against Punjab had seen a frustrating last-wicket stand, Hyderabad elected to use the new ball on Tuesday and quickly removed the remaining Chhattisgarh batsmen, preventing more overnight runs.
Hyderabad’s new-ball burst saw Rakshann Readdi breach Jayant Yadav’s defence and C.V. Milind dismiss Ajay Mandal and Dharmendrasingh Jadeja, wrapping up Chhattisgarh for 284 after only five runs had been added to the overnight total. Chhattisgarh’s innings included Anuj Tiwary 72 and Vikalp Tiwari 69, and Hyderabad’s bowlers returned figures of Milind 11.1-3-19-3, Tanay 26-4-89-1, Rakshann 14-1-37-3, Ruthik 18-1-69-1 and Aniketh 21-4-59-2.
Hyderabad’s reply began poorly when Dharmendrasinh removed Tanmay Agarwal early, a chance held at leg slip by Anuj Tiwary. Abhirath Reddy and Rahul Radesh then steadied the innings with a 58-run partnership off 123 balls, with Abhirath falling to a full toss after a near run-out incident.
K. Himateja brought urgency before lunch, lofting a six over midwicket and following with two boundaries as Hyderabad recovered; he fell to Dev Aditya Singh just short of a half-century. Rahul Radesh reached 50 from 131 balls, and Varun Goud departed just before tea, caught by Prateek Yadav.
The middle session belonged to Dharmendrasinh: Pragnay Reddy was beaten by an arm ball, Rahul was caught at short-leg and C.V. Milind holed out to long-on as three wickets fell within ten overs of the final session. Dev Aditya Singh then uprooted Ruthik Yadav’s stumps, leaving Chhattisgarh looking for a quick finish.
Hyderabad found resistance from Aniketh Reddy and Tanay Thyagarajann, who put on a 50-run stand; Aniketh’s brisk 32 off 31 balls (5x4) revived the hosts before Dev Aditya Singh removed him with the deficit down to 23. Tanay and Rakshann Readdi remained unbeaten at stumps.
Chhattisgarh finished their first innings on 284 (90.1 overs) and Hyderabad closed at 275 for nine in 83 overs, trailing by nine runs at stumps with Tanay Thyagarajann 29 and Rakshann Readdi 1 not out.
