Barcelona will return to LaLiga action against Getafe at Camp Nou on Matchday 8 on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with doubts over the fitness of captain Raphinha and midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The Catalans sit top of the table on 21 points, five clear of Atletico Madrid and Real Betis; another win would take them eight points clear and build a sizeable lead over Real Madrid ahead of El Clásico on October 25. Getafe occupy 11th place, and Hansi Flick’s side are heavy favourites for the Camp Nou meeting.

Raphinha suffered a small muscular swelling in the back of his right thigh while on international duty for Brazil and returned early from the national team camp after the second friendly against Australia. Following medical examinations in Barcelona, the skipper was declared injury-free, but he has been training away from the main squad for two days and, according to AS, the club are taking a risk-free approach with his return; he will likely start on the bench and may even get some minutes.

Frenkie de Jong has been out since the summer after suffering a serious knee injury while playing for the Netherlands in the FIFA World Cup 2026. He has reportedly made significant progress in his recovery and returned to first-team training earlier this week, but he is still not fully match fit and media reports suggest that he will need 15 to 20 more days to regain full match fitness; he will likely make his first appearance against Deportivo Alaves on October 31.

Goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who suffered a knee injury before the international break, has returned to full team training and will likely be in the matchday squad against Getafe; it will be up to Flick whether he keeps Dominik Livakovic in goal or brings Garcia back into the starting lineup.

Youngster Roony Bardghji suffered a torn ACL in his right knee during training at the start of the season and is set for an extended period on the sidelines, with his return date not confirmed. Centre-back Andreas Christensen is out at least for a few more weeks due to a thigh injury, is expected to return by the end of October and is likely to start on the bench against Getafe after recovering from the thigh issue.

De Jong is unlikely to play against Getafe as he is still regaining full match fitness; the fixture will take place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 5:30 PM IST.
